            Director of Christian Education

 

General Description

 

The Director of Christian Education is a full-time professional who concentrates on ministry in the age-level areas of Children, Youth, Young Adults (i.e. all related ministries that impact the entire Church’s ministry) under the direction of the Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

v  To provide administrative/program leadership and guidance in the age-levels described above, as well as, the Church Council and work areas of ministry.

v  To facilitate, support, and resource all ministries without assuming their functional responsibilities.

v  To develop comprehensive programs for age-levels (Spiritual Formation, Fellowship, Service, Outreach, Confirmation, etc.)

v  To guide, advise, and encourage lay chairpersons and coordinators of all related committees, councils and/or work areas to children, youth, young adults.

v  To work in partnership with the pastor to develop programs to enhance First United Methodist Church’s “holistic” ministries.

 

Supervisory Controls

 

The Director of Christian Education shall work under the direct supervision of the Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee as described in the “Basic Employment Policy".

 

Contract Hours

 

40 hours per week

Position Qualifications

 

A dedication to Christian Principles and the Christian Life

 

A Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Christian Education and experience in the field of Christian Education.
