General Description
The Custodian is to perform the repetitive tasks of cleaning and housekeeping
duties throughout the church.

Responsibilities
and Duties
A.
Building
v
Cleaning of the offices, classrooms, fellowship hall, restrooms, sanctuary,
chapel, hallways, etc. (all in a routine and orderly way)
v
To clean windows as needed
v
To perform the tasks such as washing, sweeping, dusting, removing cobwebs,
vacuuming, mopping, waxing, trash removal, etc.
v
To replenish toilet supplies to all restrooms
v
To purchase housekeeping supplies and yard keeping supplies.
v
To replace light bulbs, heat and A/C filters
v
To set up and take down tables and chairs in the fellowship hall and in
classrooms as necessary
v
To move office and other church furniture as needed
v
To set thermostats up and down to control temperature for various parts of the
Church prior to and after gatherings, meetings, or worship services
v
To open and lock the church facilities before and after church services.
v
To notify the Church Office of major repairs that may need communicating to the
Trustees.
v
To perform minor routine repairs and maintenance work.
v
To perform other comparable duties as instructed by the Pastor or the
Chairperson of Trustees
B.
Grounds
v
To perform the repetitive yard work on church property
v
To perform duties such as:
v
Lawn mowing
v
Lawn raking
v
Sidewalk sweeping
v
Sidewalk edging
v
Fertilizing and seeding the lawn
v
Fertilizing the trees, shrubs, and flowers
v
To purchase the necessary supplies
v
To keep tools and machines in good working order and to perform minor repairs or
to see to matters of preventative maintenance
v
To perform these and other comparable duties as instructed by the Pastor or the
Chairperson of Trustees
v
To make sure the walks and steps are free from ice and snow before services.
Supervisory
Controls
The Custodian shall work under the direct supervision of the Pastor and the
Staff Parish Relations Committee as described in the “Basic Employment Policy".
