ASH WEDNESDAY

Order of Worship

Prelude

Call to Worship:

Rend your hearts and not your garments." Says the Lord.
Return to the Lord your God.
For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and
Abounding in steadfast love.
With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself
Before the God on high?
He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the
Lord require of you, but to do justice, and to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God.

*Hymn: "Amazing Grace" No.378

Prayer of Confession:

O God, maker of every thing and judge of all that you have made, from the substance of the earth you have formed us and from the power of death you will raise us up.  By the redemptive power of your love, create in us clean hearts and put within us a right spirit, that we may repent of our sins and lead lives worthy of your calling; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Almighty God, you have created us out of the dust of the earth;

Your gracious gift are we given everlasting life,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
