A WOMAN'S PLACE
Scripture Lesson: Genesis 2: 18-24
Object: A Pink Ribbon and a Blue Ribbon
If I were to show you a picture of a baby and hold up a pink ribbon, what kind of baby
would you think of?
A baby girl?
Suppose I held up a blue ribbon? A boy?
Suppose I had a picture of the baby with a football what would you say? A boy?
How about if the baby was playing with a doll?
Well, some boys enjoy dolls, don't they? One of the most wonderful things about life is that God has created some of us to be boys and some to be girls. As we read our Bibles we read about great men like Moses and David and St. Paul. But we also read about great women like Deborah and Ruth and Mary, the mother of Jesus. The important thing about all of us, boys AND girls, is that we are created in the image of God. He created us to be like He is--to love and think and create. We are all created to be very special. Boys are created to be special in their way. Girls are created to be very special in their way. So, whether they put blue ribbons on your crib when you were born or pink ones, you were created as a very important person--one who has within yourself the very image of God.
Let us pray: Thank you God for creating us, and letting us to live in our families to be loved. Thank you for letting us love each other. In Jesus' name. Amen.
